Commencement Ceremony General Information

Graduation will be held outdoors rain or shine in Goodman Stadium on Lehigh's Goodman Campus. Students from Lehigh’s four colleges will participate at this ceremony. Tickets are not required for admission to the graduation ceremony in Goodman Stadium. In case of severe weather, please visit our severe weather information page.

It is important that your graduate’s name is pronounced correctly as they cross the stage at the Commencement Ceremony. To make sure pronunciation is on point, your graduate will receive an email from MarchingOrder to create an account or they may access the Online System to create an account. Once logged in, your graduate will complete the form giving them the ability to provide phonetic spelling of their name, record their name, and more. They must click Submit once completed and they will receive an email confirmation confirming their submission. THIS ONLINE SYSTEM WILL CLOSE ON APRIL 25.

NOTE: Only students who have completed their graduation application and indicated they will walk at the commencement ceremony have access to login to the name pronunciation system. To create their account, they must use the email address where they received the email regarding name pronunciation.

How It Works at the Ceremony

  • Once the system closes, a professional announcer will record every graduate’s name that was provided by April 24 and use the information within their form to pronounce their name correctly.
  • If they do not complete the process above, their name will still be recorded in advance based on professional judgement as long as they completed their graduation application and indicated they will walk at the commencement ceremony by April 24.
  • The morning of the ceremony, they will receive their reader card in the Student Assembly Area, which will include a barcode linked to their pre-recorded name file.
  • They will be instructed not to bend or fold this card.
  • When instructed to line-up by the stage, they will present their reader card to the scanner at either the left or right side of the stage.
  • Their reader card will be scanned, announcing their name as they walk forward to receive a congratulations from a member of senior leadership, which will be captured on screen with their name displayed.
  • NOTE: The ceremony will begin at 10:00 a.m. sharp. Late arrivals are not guaranteed their pre-printed reader card and will need to complete an orange reader card before being seated by a faculty usher. If graduates have an orange card, their name will be read by a reader onsite and their name will NOT appear on the screen.

The gates to Goodman Stadium, on Lehigh’s Goodman Campus, open at 8:45 a.m. We strongly encourage you arrive early to avoid traffic backups and parking delays. In addition, all bags will be checked upon entering.
