The recent transformation of the Lehigh campus through the last 10-year Campus Master Plan will be reviewed. The next phase through a new Campus Master Planning process will be previewed.

Faculty and staff are invited to attend. The event will run from noon to 1 p.m. in Grace Hall.

The Berman Center for Jewish Studies presents a lecture by Nicholas Sawicki, assistant professor of art and architecture at Lehigh.

The event begins at 4 p.m. in the Humanities Center.

Monday, March 21: “Safeguarding Devotion: The Significance of Secrecy and Religious Dissimulation in Imami Shi’ism”

The Center for Global Islamic Studies presents an address by Tariq al-Jamil, assistant professor of religion and Islamic studies at Swarthmore College.

The event begins at 4:15 p.m. in Room 200 of Linderman Library.

The 27th annual Selfridge Lecture, sponsored by the department of philosophy, features William C. Wimsatt, the Peter B. Ritzma Professor of philosophy, evolutionary biology, and conceptual and historical studies of science at the University of Chicago.

The event begins at 7:30 p.m. in Sinclair Auditorium.

Tuesday, March 22, 2011: “Diagramming Information in Genetics: The Evolution of Punnett Squares”

The department of philosophy presents a College Lecture featuring William C. Wimsatt, the Peter B. Ritzma Professor of philosophy, evolutionary biology, and conceptual and historical studies of science at the University of Chicago.

The event begins at 4:10 p.m. in Room 270 of Maginnes Hall.

Wednesday, March 23: “A Unique Surface Analysis Symposium: Cutting Edge Surface Analysis Instrumentation at Lehigh”

Hidde Brongersma, inventor of the Qtac HS-LEIS; Israel Wachs, professor of chemical engineering; and Himanshu Jain, professor of materials science and engineering, will give lectures on two advanced surface characterization instruments that are the only ones of their kind in North America.

The event also includes a poster session and laboratory tour. It begins at 1 p.m. in Whitaker Auditorium and runs until 5 p.m.

The Global Union presents a discussion led by Rob Rozehnal, associate professor of religion studies, and Bruce Whitehouse, associate professor of anthropology.

The department of computer science and engineering presents a seminar by Mary Fernandez, executive director of distributed computing research at AT&T Labs.

Thursday, March 24: “Human Rights in the History of Global Cosmopolitanisms”

The Humanities Center presents a lecture by Samuel Moyn, professor of history at Columbia University.

The event begins at 4:10 p.m. in the Scheler Family Humanities Forum in Room 200 of Linderman Library. It is cosponsored by the Berman Center for Jewish Studies, the department of history and the Globalization and Social Change Initiative.
