Hold the Date: Conference on The Future of Work

The language that created the International Labor Organization, now a United Nations agency, was written into the Treaty of Versailles on April 11, 1919. In celebrating its 100th anniversary, the organization has selected Lehigh as the sole U.S. site for an international, 24-hour, chase-the-sun cycle of happenings around the globe on April 11, 2019.

At Lehigh, the College of Business and Economics’ Martindale Center for the Study of Private Enterprise and the Lehigh-United Nations Partnership will host discussions, workshops and community events focused on the diverse challenges shaping the future of work and job creation in the digital age, implications of the gig economy and global supply chains, and the role of trade schools and colleges in partnering to empower youth and community on both local and global scales.

Affiliated activities are planned around curated museum collections related to the art of labor and industrial history, issues of work and labor, and other campus activities throughout the year.
