Lehigh students raise over $39,000 at dance marathon

A night of fun, games and several performances at Lehigh’s dance marathon in Grace Hall ended with the unveiling of a $39,311.54 donation to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
Saturday’s eight-hour dance-a-thon, ‘For The Kids,’ was organized by the Lehigh University Dance Marathon club with the goal of raising money that would go toward the medical treatment of sick children. Over 850 students registered for the night, and several student organizations sponsored.
Performances by electronic dance music DJ Kap Slap (Jared Lucas ’12) and rock band Kingsfoil were among many highlights of the event. Students danced their hearts out during a Zumba workout led by Christine Gravelle, Lehigh’s assistant dean and director of leadership development and civic engagement. Other performances included stepping and strolling by Alpha Phi Alpha and Kappa Alpha Psi, two of Lehigh’s Multicultural Greek Council fraternities, and a cappella performances by the Echoes and A Whole Step Up.
Throughout the night, children who have received treatment from the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia came to the stage with their families to share their stories and to thank Lehigh students for their fundraising efforts.
