Kevin Clayton '84 '13P


Kevin Clayton ’84, ’13P served as Lehigh’s interim president during the 2014-2015 academic year, following the departure of Alice P. Gast, Lehigh’s 13th president. Clayton is Vice Chairman and a Managing Director of Makena Capital Management. He is also a member of the firm’s Board of Directors. Before serving at Lehigh, Clayton was a principal and director of the global investment management firm Oaktree Capital Management, L.P. A graduate of the College of Arts and Sciences, Clayton earned a B.A. in Government from Lehigh in 1984 and an M.B.A. from St. Joseph’s University in 1988. Clayton began his business career with Chrysler Corporation, holding a variety of management positions in the U.S. Automotive Sales and Marketing Division. In 1990, he moved to Trust Company of the West, rising to senior vice president. He then joined Oaktree in 1995, where he founded the Marketing and Client Relations department. A longtime supporter of the university, Clayton returned to his role as Vice Chair of the Lehigh Board of Trustees following his service in the Presidency.
