Introducing ‘Our Lehigh': Tell Us Your Story

Visit "Our Lehigh" to view submitted stories and share your own.

One of the best ways to learn about a community is through its stories. Personal anecdotes can reveal much about the unique spirit of an institution. They communicate the strengths, challenges, traditions and priorities that, when combined, provide an honest representation of a community.

President-elect John Simon wants to hear your stories.

In preparation for his arrival on July 1, Simon hopes to learn about Lehigh from its people—those who know it best. With that in mind, he invites members of the Lehigh community to share their stories about the university through a digital onboarding project called “Our Lehigh.”

“No matter what you want to share about your time at Lehigh—a favorite class, a revered mentor, a life-changing event, an opportunity seized, a challenge faced—I would love to hear about it,” says Simon, Lehigh’s 14th president. “I am asking you to share your honest opinions about this university, and I truly believe your willingness to do so will go a long way toward preparing me for the job that awaits.”

The “Our Lehigh” website serves as a collection site for Lehigh stories in both written and video form. Participants may submit stories via the website for public viewing or privately to Simon and his staff.

Representatives from University Communications will be on campus to collect on-camera “Our Lehigh” stories on the following days:

• Monday, March 23 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Girdler Gallery of University Center and from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Iacocca Hall
• Tuesday, March 24 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Taylor Gym
• Wednesday, March 25 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Fairchild-Martindale Library

Those who are more camera-shy may submit written stories and photos to the “Our Lehigh” website.

Simon hopes the candid input of the Lehigh community will help him define the priorities that will guide him in leading the university.

“What is your overall impression of Lehigh? What do you love about our community? What could we be doing better together? What should our goals and aspirations for the future be? And, maybe most importantly, what has your Lehigh experience been?” asks Simon.

“Our Lehigh” launches today.
