Tom Hyclak named interim dean of the CBE

Tom Hyclak, professor of economics in the College of Business and Economics, has been named interim dean of the CBE. He will succeed the college’s current dean, Paul R. Brown, who was recently named president of Monmouth University, beginning Aug. 1.
Hyclak, who was interim dean of the CBE for 18 months prior to the start of Brown’s tenure in July 2007, will assume his new role on July 1.
“Professor Hyclak is not only a highly valued member of the faculty, but also someone who is deeply committed to the university,” said Lehigh Provost Patrick V. Farrell in announcing Hyclak’s appointment.
“He has the respect of faculty, administrators and students, and he has demonstrated the strong leadership that is critical during a period of transition. We are gratified that he is once again willing to take on this role.”
Farrell also announced that he will soon name and charge a committee to conduct an international search for candidates for the position, to invite nominations and to evaluate candidates.

“I expect the search committee to begin work soon, with candidates coming to campus in the Fall 2013 semester,” Farrell said. “The goal is to have a new dean in place by the start of the 2014 academic year.”
