Commencement Ceremony

The details below will provide you with what you need to know for Lehigh University's Commencement Ceremonies at Goodman Stadium.

All faculty must adhere to all Lehigh University COVID-19 Guidelines, which include wearing a cloth face covering (covering mouth and nose) at all times, maintaining 6-foot social distancing, washing hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, and practicing other good health behaviors such as avoiding touching your face and covering your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing. Anyone failing to comply will not be permitted access to the ceremony and will be required to leave. This is for the safety of all of our University community members, and no exceptions will be made. Please plan accordingly. Each ceremony will be streamed live and anyone who cannot (or will not) comply with the COVID-19 Guidelines are welcome to attend Commencement remotely. All faculty are required to complete a COVID-19 Self-Assessment the day of their assigned ceremony and prior to arriving on Lehigh campus. For more information on how to complete your Self-Assessment, please visit the COVID-19 Self-Assessment. You must show proof of your completed Self-Assessment (on your phone or print out) with green QR code to gain access into Goodman stadium. If you receive an orange QR code, your temperature will be checked on site and must be below 100 degrees Fahrenheit prior to being admitted to the ceremony. Please do not attempt to attend Commencement if you receive a red QR code, your temperature is above 100 degrees Fahrenheit, or you do not show proof of completion. You will be denied access to campus and required to leave. This is for the safety of all of our University community members, and no exceptions will be made. Please plan accordingly.

Due to capacity restrictions, each ceremony is limited to 40 faculty. This limit includes faculty participating as an Usher or back-up Reader as well as Processing. To successfully run each ceremony, we need help from our faculty. To participate, RSVP is required.

Note: Please use the tabs within the spreadsheet to toggle between the ceremonies. Sign-ups are on a first-come, first-served basis. You may sign up for one or all of the ceremonies. In addition, please take a moment to review the Severe Weather Plan so you are prepared and plan accordingly.

If you sign up to participate as an Usher or back-up Reader, you will be contacted prior to the ceremony with detailed instructions.

Faculty parking will be in the lot off College Drive to the north of the stadium. It is a grass lot. One week prior to the ceremonies, faculty who have confirmed their participation will receive a parking pass and map for the North Lot via email. Please print your pass and have it on hand to access this lot. Plan accordingly for traffic delays.

All faculty who RSVP to participate (Usher/Reader/Procession) will be required to check-in at the faculty tent with no sides located on the east side outside of the stadium. Upon checking in, you must be on the RSVP list and show proof of your completed COVID-19 Self-Assessment with green QR code to gain access into Goodman stadium. If you receive an orange QR code, your temperature will be checked on site prior to being admitted to the ceremony. Please do not attempt to attend Commencement if you receive a red QR code, your temperature is above 100 degrees Fahrenheit, or you have not completed your COVID-19 Self-Assessment. You will be denied access to campus and required to leave. This is for the safety of all of our University community members, and no exceptions will be made. Please plan accordingly. If you provide a COVID-19 Self-Assessment with a green QR code or orange QR code and your temperature is below 100 degrees Fahrenheit, you will receive a wristband that is specific to your ceremony.

All faculty members participating must be wearing academic regalia. We advise you to come dressed in your regalia and advise against bringing any personal belongings as we cannot guarantee security of those items. The stadium house will not be available for faculty. Portable restrooms will be available for faculty in the parking lot behind the stadium house.

Graduates will not participate in the formal procession. Once graduates check in, they will be directed to enter the stadium through the north entrance gates. For the faculty procession, faculty will follow in a single line and maintain 6-foot social distancing in the procession. The faculty will process into the stadium using the gates on the NE side of the stadium house. You must display your wristband to staff at the stadium gates to be allowed in.

The processional will begin promptly at the assigned ceremony time. Faculty in the procession will be seated on stage. Stage seats will be set 6 feet apart with bottled water next to each chair. At the conclusion of the ceremony, faculty must recess from the stage and out the same gates that were used to enter the stadium.
