Call for nominations issued for 2013 commencement participants

The 2013 Commencement Speaker Nominations Committee and the Faculty Honorary Degree Committee, representing undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and staff, have issued a call for nominations for 2013 commencement participants: Commencement Speaker, Honorary Degree recipients, and Baccalaureate Speaker.

The nomination process is simple and online. Students, staff, faculty, and alumni may submit as many names as they wish. The nominations website includes criteria and other information regarding each nomination category. It only takes a few minutes to nominate someone.

The nomination period for the 2013 commencement exercises will continue through Dec. 9, 2011. Any nomination submitted after midnight, Dec. 9, will be considered for the next year.

The committees, after seeking nominations from the campus community and alumni, will review the submissions in order to provide a list of recommended individuals to the president, who will make the final decision with approval of the Board of Trustees.

Current Lehigh faculty, staff, and students are ineligible to receive Honorary Degrees.

Criteria for each category—Honorary Degrees, Commencement Speaker, and Baccalaureate Speaker—are outlined on individual websites, accessible through the nominations website. Nominations are accepted for these commencement participants on a rolling basis.

All nominations will be handled in strict confidence.

Any questions should be sent to CommencementSpeakers@lehigh.edu.
