Tuesday, March 16: “The Border Politics of Migrant Death in the Sonoran Desert”

The lecture series of the department of sociology and anthropology features Bruce Whitehouse, assistant professor of anthropology. The event begins at 4:10 p.m. in Room 111 of Maginnes Hall.
Thursday, March 18: “Small Fish in a Big Pond: How Entrepreneurial Companies Can Differentiate Themselves in a Marketplace Filled with Large Competitiors.”
Phi Gamma Delta and the Lehigh Marketing Club present a discussion by Sam Calagione, founder and president of Dogfish Head Brewery. The event begins at 4 p.m. in Room 091 of the Rauch Business Center.
Thursday, March 18: “From the Americas to America: Identity as Construct”

The Speaking Bodies series of the Humanities Center features Loida Maritza Perez, author of the novel Geographies of Home. Perez will discuss Latino cultural identity in the context of the Americas.

The event begins at 4:10 p.m. in Room 200 of Linderman Library. It is cosponsored with the department of modern languages and literatures and the Africana Studies, Latin American Studies and Women’s Studies programs.

Friday, March 19: “Outrageous Building Designs”

The Fazlur Rahman Khan Lecture Series features Ron Klemencic, president of Magnusson Klemencic Associates in Seattle, Washington. Klemencic will discuss the advances in design and construction technology, in materials and in communication capabilities that enable structural engineers to realize what he calls the “outrageous, wacky and wild” building designs proposed by modern architects.

The event begins at 4:10 p.m. in Sinclair Auditorium. It is sponsored by the department of civil and environmental engineering and the department of art and architecture.
