The seminar series of the department of earth and environmental sciences presents an address by Peter W. Reiners, associate professor of geosciences at the University of Arizona, titled “Geochemistry, thermochronology and applications in earth and planetary science.”

The event begins at noon in Room 100 of Williams Hall.

Friday, Nov. 20: “Optimization Models in Portfolio Management”

The seminar series of the department of industrial and systems engineering presents an address by Reha Tutuncu, vice president of asset management for Goldman Sachs, titled “Optimization Models in Portfolio Management.”

The event begins at 2:30 p.m. in Room 451 of Mohler Lab.

Monday, Nov. 23: “Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need”

The office of the vice president and associate provost for research and graduate studies will host a brown bag lunch for faculty interested in the GAANN (Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need) program of the U.S. Department of Education. The GAANN program provides fellowships to qualifying graduate students pursuing the highest degree available in fields designated as areas of national need. These include engineering, biology, chemistry, mathematics, physics and computer science, as well as education assessment, evaluation and research.

The event begins at noon in Sinclair Laboratory.

Monday, Nov. 23: “Unraveling the Relationship Between the Host Innate Immune System and Viruses”

The colloquium series of the department of biological sciences presents an address by Dr. Stefan Rothenburg of the National Institutes of Child Health and Human Development titled “Unraveling the Relationship Between the Host Innate Immune System and Viruses.”

The event begins at 1:10 p.m. in Room B-023 of Iacocca Hall.
