The department of earth and environmental sciences present an address by Michael O’Neal, assistant professor of geography at the University of Delaware.

The event begins at noon in Room 101 of the STEPS building.

Friday, Oct. 8: “Optimal Location of Refueling Stations for the Transition to Alternative-Fuel Vehicles”

The industrial and systems engineering department presents an address by Dr. Michael Kuby, professor in the school of geographical sciences and urban planning at Arizona State University.

The event begins at 2:30 p.m. in Room 451 of Mohler Laboratory.

Wednesday, Oct. 13: Town Hall Meeting

The meeting’s new location will be Grace Hall to encourage a participatory format. President Alice Gast and Provost Patrick Farrell will discuss the major accomplishments over the past academic year, progress on the four working groups for the front-runner initiatives and the future direction of the university’s long-range planning efforts. A question-and-answer session will follow.

The event goes from noon to 1:30 p.m. in Grace Hall.

Wednesday, Oct. 13: “The Political Dead Zone: The Politics of Environmental Degradation”

The Friends of the Lehigh Libraries and the department of political science present an address by Howard Ernst ‘93, associate professor of political science at the United States Naval Academy.

The event begins at 4 p.m. in Room 200 of Linderman Library.

Wednesday, Oct. 13: “A Global Push for Human Rights”

The Global Union and the Bethlehem Chapter of Amnesty International present an address by Folabi Olagbaju, Amnesty International’s regional director.

The event begins at 7 p.m. in Room 102 of Maginnes Hall.

Thursday, Oct. 14: “The Ethics of Cruelty”

The Humanities Center presents an “eXcess lecture” by Jose Ovejero, writer of novels, poetry, short stories and travel books.

The event begins at 4:10 p.m. in Room 200 of Linderman Library.
