On selected Fridays throughout the semester, the Community Service Office holds “Feel Good Fridays” with activities ranging from helping out at the Boys and Girls Club, to stocking food pantries, to stuffing envelopes. Contact the Community Service Office for more information and to sign up.

Tuesday, Sept. 22: “Genocide, Crimes Against Humanity and War Crimes…”

The Kenner Lecture presents Dr. Charles Villa-Vicencio's lecture, Genocide, Crimes Against Humanity and War Crimes: Does the South African settlement have anything to teach the world? The event begins at 8 p.m. in Zoellner Arts Center's Baker Hall.
Villa-Vicencio is senior research fellow in the Institute for Justice and Reconciliation in Cape Town, South Africa, having founded the institute in 2000 and served as its executive director for eight years. Previously he was the national research director in the South African Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Before that appointment, he was professor of religion and society at the University of Cape Town. He is now a visiting professor in the Conflict Resolution Program at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.

Thursday, Sept. 24: Kickoff for the Class of 2010 Endowed Scholarship Drive

The Class of 2010 is raising money for endowed scholarship to give future deserving students an opportunity at a Lehigh education. Kickoff takes place at 6 p.m. on Library Drive. Contact Nancy Merritt for more information.

Friday, Sept. 25: Study Mission to China

The Industrial and Systems Engineering Department Seminar Series presents a talk by Professor Mike Groover about his recent three-week trip to China. Groover and his wife visited Beijing, Xian and Chongqing, then sailed 1,800 miles down the Yangtze River. The cruise included passage through the Three Gorges and the canal locks at the Three Gorges Hydroelectric Plant. The trip concluded with visits to Nanjing and Shanghai.
The presentation will offer an overview of Chinese culture, industry and infrastructure, and the Chinese people. It will include facts and figures, but no equations or derivations.
The seminar begins at 2:30 p.m. in Room 451 of Mohler Lab.
