Sunday, April 3: “A Film Unfinished”

A Film Unfinished, voted Best Documentary 2010 National Board of Review, will be shown by the Berman Center for Jewish Studies. Directed by Yael Hersonski, it’s a film about an unfinished film which portrays the people behind and before the camera in the Warsaw Ghetto, exposing the extent of the cinematic manipulation forever changing the way we look at historic images.

The event begins at 2 p.m. in Whitaker Lab Auditorium.

Tuesday, April 5: “The Role of the Medical Examiner in Public Health”

Tuesday, April 5, 2011 - 4:00 to 5:30 PM
Dr. Marianne Hamel, Forensic Pathologist with Lehigh Valley Hospital and former Medical Examiner for New York City, will speak in the first of three lectures sponsored by the Health, Medicine and Society Program for Public Health Week.

Wednesday, April 6: “Lehigh Students Helping Our Local Community”

The Health, Medicine and Society Program presents the Annual Public Health Student Award with Dr. Bonnie Coyle, Director of Community Health at St. Luke's Hospital.

Wednesday, April 6: International Competency: A Professor's Perspective

Part of the Global Union series, Finance and Law professors Paul Brockman and David Myers discuss globalization and allow students to engage in discussion about the future of the business world.

The event begins at 4 p.m. in Rauch 141.

The Chemistry department presents professor Robert Dempski of the department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

The event begins at 4:10 p.m. in Packard Auditorium 3.

Thursday, April 7: Whither The Irish Economy

Lehigh's Martindale Center for he Study of Private Enterprise and the Office of International Affairs presents the 2nd International Conference on the Irish Economy. Featured Speakers are: Professor John FitzGerald, ESRI, Dublin; Professor Kenneth French, Dartmouth College; Professor John McHale, NUI Galway; and Professor Frank Barry, Trinity College Dublin.

Professor Andrew Flescher of the State University of New York, Stony Brook, speaks as part of the Health, Medicine and Society Program’s Public Health Week celebration.

Thursday, April 7: “Carbon Sequestration and Transport from Watershed Scale Landscapes”

The department of earth and environmental sciences presents the annual D. Foster Hewitt seminar, with speakers including Peter A. Raymond from Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, Louis A. Kaplan from Stroud Water Research Center, and Rattan Lal from the Ohio State University.

Chris D. Poland, Chairman and CEO of Degenkolb Engineers from San Francisco, presents the Fazlur R. Khan Distinguished Lecture.

Sunday, April 10: “The Agents of Change”

The department of Political Science presents a film trilogy, “The Agents of Change” delving into the potential relationships between art and political activism. Two of filmmaker Ranjan Kamath’s films will be shown Sunday, with the final film being shown Monday, April 11.

The event begins with the films Fishers of Men at 9 a.m. and Tanvir ka Safarnama at 11 a.m. in Maginnes room 290.
