Sunday, Sept. 19: Memorial Service for Prof. Ben Litt

The university chaplain’s office will hold a memorial service for Ben Litt, professor emeritus of management and marketing in the College of Business and Economics, who died on Aug. 9. Prof. Litt served on the faculty from 1970 to 2009.

The service will begin at 2 p.m. in Packer Memorial Church.

Monday, Sept. 20: “Health Insurance Benefit Design in the Era of Health Care Reform: Implications for Enrollee Health”

The Health Care Initiative presents an address by Anthony LoSasso, professor of health policy and administration at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

The event begins at 2:30 p.m. in Room 241 of Rauch Business Center.

Monday, Sept. 20: Green DeX

The Dexter F. Baker Institute for Entrepreneurship, Creativity and Innovation presents an event focused on green products, technologies and services. Entrepreneurs and company representatives will talk about how they make their businesses greener or more sustainable, and students will be able to exchange ideas and possibly win prizes.

The event begins at 6 p.m. in the STEPS lobby and auditorium.

Tuesday, Sept. 21: “Kicking the Addiction: America and Our Oil Future”

Henri Barkey, professor of international relations; Sharon Friedman, professor of journalism and communication; and Dork Sahagian, professor of earth and environmental sciences, will discuss the impact of America’s oil consumption. The talk is sponsored by The Global Union, the Science and Environmental Writing Program, and the departments of international relations, journalism and communications, and earth and environmental sciences.

The event begins at 4 p.m. in Sinclair Auditorium.

Wednesday, Sept. 22: Prize-winning poet Sherod Santos

Sherod Santos, author of five volumes of poetry and contributor to The New Yorker and The Paris Review, will give a talk at 7:30 p.m. in the Black Box Theatre of the Zoellner Arts Center.

The event is cosponsored by the Visiting Lecturers Committee and the Creative Writing Program.
