Coffee, conversation and a book signing

The Lehigh University Bookstore is hosting five local authors at an outreach event titled “Coffee, Conversation and Signing” that will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 20.

The authors who will be on hand to discuss and sign their books are:

Kenneth F. Raniere and Karen M. Samuels, whose Images of America: South Bethlehem discusses Bethlehem and its history since 1848, including its people and its buildings. Raniere worked 15 years as a graphic designer and artist in the office of university communications at Lehigh.

Maria Rodale, whose bestseller, Organic Manifesto, details 21st-century farming and organic produce.

Troy Hein, whose Jay at Play: The Big Hit is the first in a series of books with lessons for children. The series is also illustrated by Lehigh Valley native Kathryn Roman.
Susan Berg, whose Choose on Purpose for Twenty-Somethings describes the tools young adults need and the questions they have as they enter their twenties.

Heather Boyette, coordinator of the event, hopes it draws the Bethlehem community to the bookstore.

“We are working to unite Lehigh with the surrounding area and highlight some of the great things the Lehigh Valley has to offer,” says Boyette. “To a broader extent, we are hoping that the bookstore becomes a place that both the local and campus communities can call their own.”

The event is open to members of the community, as well as faculty, staff and students. Anyone who purchases a book at the event will receive a half-priced drink at the bookstore’s Café.
