Draft sustainability plan review period extended

Due to the large volume of feedback and the power outage last week, Lehigh will be extending the open comment period for the campus Sustainability Plan until Thursday, Nov. 10.

The plan, which is currently touring campus in its poster form, will be in the Fairchild Martindale Library from Monday, Nov. 7 through Thursday, Nov. 10. The student feedback forum has been rescheduled to Wednesday, Nov. 9 from 5-6:30 p.m. in STEPS 180.

The plan will be available online (authentication required) until Nov. 10 and all comments are welcome.

The campus Sustainability Plan inclues draft plans in nine areas - land use, energy use, food, purchasing, transportation, academics and educational experience, community building, waste, and water. For the past eight months, 65 members of the campus community – students, faculty and staff – across all of the colleges collaborated to create a sustainability plan that would influence the campus master plan.

This process involved visiting other leading schools and looking at best practices. A representative group also traveled to the annual Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education conference in Pittsburgh.
