President Gast elected to Chevron Board of Directors

President Alice Gast has been elected to the Board of Directors of Chevron Corporation and will serve on the company’s audit committee.

Gast said she would apply her experience in higher education, chemical engineering and research policy to the governance of Chevron.

“I look forward to working with an exceptionally talented group of directors, and I have been impressed with Chevron’s leadership, vision and governance practices. I will gain knowledge and perspectives that will be valuable to Lehigh in furthering our mission of teaching, research and service,” she said.

In a news release, Chevron Corporation chair John Watson said, “Dr. Gast has tremendous technical and industry expertise that will be a valuable asset to our board discussions.”

Brad Scheler, chair of Lehigh’s Board of Trustees, commented: “The election of President Gast to the board of Chevron brings additional and well-deserved distinction to the university and to President Gast.

“The recruitment of Alice by Chevron, a multinational business enterprise, provides further confirmation that Lehigh students and faculty are actively engaged in addressing global challenges. With energy as one such global challenge, Chevron will benefit greatly from Alice’s knowledge, experience and wise counsel. I am confident she will fulfill the duties of her directorship with utmost distinction.”
